What Is Astrocartography?
Your birth chart describes when you were born; astrocartography shows you where those same energies land on a map of the world. As the planets that were present at your birth stretch into lines across the globe, each place on Earth amplifies a different part of you. This tab explains the building blocks - the four angles, and the planets that travel along them.
The Four Angles
Every line on your map runs through one of four angles, the most sensitive points in any chart. They come in two pairs: the AC and DC sit on the horizon (how you meet the world and how you meet others), while the MC and IC run vertically (your public life above, your private roots below). Together they map the four directions a single planet's energy can express in a place.

The AC is the eastern horizon, the point where the sun rises - the face you lead with and the energy people feel before they know you. On an AC line, a planet colours your first impression and shapes how the world receives you.

The DC sits opposite the AC, on the western horizon, and governs close one-on-one connection rather than the broad social world. On a DC line, a planet shapes who consistently enters your life and what you seek in them - the person across the table.
MC
The Midheaven

The MC is the highest point in the sky at your birth, the noon position, and it governs your public life: career, vocation, and reputation. On an MC line, a planet shapes what you become known for and what kind of work feels purposeful.
IC
The Imum Coeli

The IC sits opposite the MC, at the lowest point - the midnight position - and governs home, roots, family, and your private sense of belonging. On an IC line, a planet shapes the emotional foundation beneath everything else: not what you build outwardly, but what you rest on inwardly.
The Planets and Points
Each angle can be lit by a different planet or point, and every one carries its own distinct quality:

Venus - where life feels easeful and relationships come naturally.

North Node - where life pulls you toward who you're becoming.

South Node - where the familiar returns: old skills, old comforts, old patterns.

Black Moon Lilith - where your most unfiltered, sovereign self comes forward.
The same place can hold very different meanings depending on which planet's line runs through it.
The Colour Families
The planets and points are grouped into four colour families, so you can see the kind of energy running through a place before you read the detail. Planets in the same family share a related theme. Here's what each colour holds:
Red - Sun, Mars, Jupiter. The warm, outward, energising planets: identity, drive, and expansion - the ones that move you toward the world.
Green - Venus, Mercury, Uranus. The planets of connection and exchange: relating, thinking, and innovating - how you meet and engage with what's around you.
Blue - Moon, Neptune, Pluto. The inner, feeling planets: emotion, imagination, and depth - the ones that move through your interior world.
Black - Saturn, Black Moon Lilith, North Node, South Node, Chiron. The deeper, soul-level points: structure, shadow, old wounds, and the path you're walking - the ones that ask the most of you and shape who you're becoming.
When several lines from the same family cluster in one place, that colour is amplified - a strong signal of which part of life that location speaks to most.
What Are Paran Lines?
The four angle lines are the foundation, but paran lines are a deeper layer that reveals how two planets in your chart interact in a specific place. A paran happens where two planets touch two of the four angles at the same moment in the same location - so instead of one quality, you get a conversation between two. It's the place where two parts of you are given a stage together.
How Parans Feel Different
A standard line carries one clear theme; a paran carries the blend of two, which is closer to how real life actually feels. Some pairings flow easily and amplify each other, some create a productive tension that asks you to hold two needs at once, and some mix in surprising, unpredictable ways. A paran doesn't just tell you what energy a place holds - it tells you how that energy behaves.
How Parans Sit on the Map
The angle lines run north-to-south across the globe, but parans run east-to-west, along a band of latitude. This means a paran's influence stretches across that whole latitude rather than narrowing to a single meridian, so it can touch many places at once. In your map, these appear as a finer, more specific layer beneath the main lines - the nuance underneath the headline.
